Behaviour Support Services

A new service for adult clients with moderate to severe Traumatic Brain Injury cover under ACC.

This service is intervention from behavioural consultants (Registered Psychologists with proven experience in behaviour support and brain injury) providing:

• An assessment of the situation and factors that are contributing to challenging behaviour and development and implementation of a behaviour support plan
• Identification of environmental factors that trigger challenging behaviour
• Advice and coaching to family and support network about how to manage the environment to minimise challenging behaviour
• Advice and coaching to family and support network on techniques to promote desired behaviour
• Direct intervention (psychological support) for individual clients as required

It is expected that following this intervention, families and individuals with TBI will be empowered with knowledge and skills to successfully deal with challenging situations and behaviours themselves, preventing any crisis intervention, family and support breakdown and retain the ability to stay engaged in meaningful life roles and activities.
